Privacy notice

Only what we need. That means the contact details you send us, any information you choose to share about your situation, & answers you give in research questions. Survey answers are stored without names or contact details unless you add them yourself.

We use your information to reply to you, to consider whether we can help, to carry out agreed case or trace work, & to develop our research & work. Our lawful bases are consent for research answers & marketing, contract where we are carrying out work you have asked for, legitimate interests for running & improving the service, & legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.

Where information is sensitive, for example about health, disability or criminal allegations, we rely on your explicit consent, or on the substantial public interest condition for preventing or detecting unlawful acts & protecting people at risk of harm.

Our invitation to discuss male violence, entitlement, & attitudes that excuse abuse is for a public research interview. It is not a confidential conversation. Before taking part, ask how your contribution will be recorded, attributed, & published. Do not include private details about other people in an initial enquiry.

We do not sell your information. We share it only with your consent, with suppliers who host our systems under contract, or where we are required or permitted to by law, for example with the police, a regulator, a court, or where there is a risk to someone's safety.

Enquiries that do not become work are deleted within twelve months. Case records are kept for six years after the file closes, unless a longer period is needed for a legal reason. Research answers are kept for as long as the research runs, then deleted or fully anonymised.

Access is limited to those who need it. Data is encrypted in transit & at rest, systems are access controlled, & files are stored separately from public website content. Investigative work is carried out lawfully & proportionately, with no unlawful access to accounts, devices, communications or protected records, & no pretexting to obtain personal data.

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, withdraw consent, & ask for it to be moved. Some rights are limited where information is held for the prevention or detection of crime. Email dylyn@findharbour.co.uk & we will respond within one month.
